Is this a SFW (safe for work) blog?

First: You should not browse the Internet during your work. It isn’t good for your career.

Second: Yes it is. But you should keep in mind that this blog is about a pony working in an animal hospital. This means that there will be subjects that will reflect the world of a veterinarian, including death, operations, and such. I will try to reduce offensive moments to a minimum, only if it is necessary or for a comedic effect. Also I’ll try to handle these moments with the greatest respect.

Which program do you use?

I’m using Photoshop to create images for this tumblr. I know that’s a very inefficient way to create vector graphics with Photoshop but I’m used to it and to lazy to switch.

I tried Flash, Illustrator, and Inkscape but I’m happy with Photoshop.

PS: Please, for the love of <insert your god, else: yourself>, do not try making vector graphics with Photoshop because Photoshop isn’t optimised for this.

Why the vet pony?

Short answer: Because.

Long answer: I like how she has acted in “Secret of my Excess” (S02E10), her voice and like her over-all design.

Furthermore I always wanted to make an ask tumblr but I had no idea which pony to choose. So nobody made one for her before and this was my opportunity. I assume that nobody wanted to create an ask tumblr for her before because noone could agree on a name for her. At least she has one now.

I’ve chosen a minor/background pony on purpose because it gives me all the freedom I need to keep this tumblr as canon as I can. Another good side-effect of her (probably) never be seen in another episode is that I’m not bombarded with questions that are related to the latest episodes and there are less chances that my own created universe will be crushed by a new episode.

Isn’t she supposed to be called “Mane Goodall” or <insert your fan name>?

According to http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/ it is Mane Goodall. But I don’t like the name at all, so I’ve decided to replace it with a better sounding name. So I took the opportunity to change the name to “Doctor Flummox”. “Doctor Flummoxed” was my first idea (she said in the show “I’m flummoxed.”) but just “Flummox” sounds more doctor-ish. Almost like a pharmaceutic product.

How long does it take to create a completely new picture?

Longer than you think. I want to create an image that is almost show-accurate so it takes a lot of time to check the style and quality in every step. I try to keep all my assets to be reusable as good as possible what means that I need also more time to design the parts that aren’t seen on the picture in which they are first used.

I create all the pictures with Photoshop. Everybody knows that drawing vector images with Photoshop is very hard to do and it takes quite some time.

As you might have noticed is that I include backgrounds to my images. As you might probably know backgrounds take extra time too, which adds up to the time that is needed to complete the picture.

I know that I won’t create as much content as other ask blogs. I try to answer a question every week or every second week.

Why didn’t you take my question?

It may has several reasons. I have a lot of questions in my inbox. I try to combine as many questions as I can to answer a question. Mainly depends on the ideas that come up reading all the questions. Content-wise, I strongly avoid questions involving humans, sex, sexual innuendos and brutality. I also got some questions about show characters. They are hard to answer because I don’t always know how to answer them appropriately. As for now I don’t delete any questions, unless they are answered. Questions involving relationships to Doctor Flummox are also hard to answer like family, friends, colleges. As for the family and colleges I have to make Characters on my own and create a deeper backstory for them. I might involve them later.

Why are you using vector graphics?

I really like vector graphics like the show is using. They look clean but still very lively. Also I have more possibilities using vector graphics than I would have making digitally drawn pictures. I can reuse everything I make and alter them to create a new post. Like e.g. I have prepared some bases for the heads and I only have to change the eyes and the mouth.

Y U bad enGrish?

English isn’t my native tongue. I try my best to reduce the amount of typos and grammar errors. You can send me a notice to tell me where the error is and how to fix it. I’ll discretely correct these as soon as possible.

Are you a vet or want to become one?

No. I just like the pony.

Do you have any medical experiences?

No. None at all. I have only a slight impression how the veterinary work looks like. I follow some vet tumblrs and I’ve looked into some vet books. Don’t expect any accurate medical situations with accurate medical solutions. Expect soap opera quality.

You have done something completely wrong! I hate you! What have you thought?

What do you except from a site that names a hospital “Sacred Barf”? Relax. Please don’t over-analyze my stuff as for I am not a professional writer. That doesn’t mean that I don’t want some continuity and consistency throughout my work. Constructive critique is fine but in the end I want to make some pretty pictures and to entertain you people. There is no need to be pissed-off because I’ve touched a topic in a way you don’t like.

Have you read any vet pony fan fictions?

No. Are there any?

Fan fictions in general: I’ve read only a few. Fan fiction isn’t my cup of tea.

Can I use the pictures from here?

You are allowed to upload them wherever you want but please be kind to put the source of these images. You aren’t allowed to claim them as your own.

The only ones that I give full permissions are the HUB, Media DHX and Hasbro. I only want is an appropriate acknowledgement (credit, a small gift) from them for using the pictures.

No. I made these questions up just in the case that somebody would ask them. It is just for your convenience. Otherwise you had to wait for an answer and I do not need answer the same questions all over again.
